“It’s just part of the job”. For years staff have been told criminal assaults by a drunk or drugged individual is just part of their job. Maybe this short video can help change perspective.
Here are a few things to think about:
- A swig of a beer smells the same on a persons’ breath as one, two, or heck even five full beers.
- Being intoxicated does not negate criminal acts (like assault)
- Many states have laws regarding assaults on healthcare providers. Some have enhanced penalties.
- Drunk is not the same as sick/injured.
- Just because a person is intoxicated does not automatically make them a patient.
